Industrial Piping Quality Assurance & QA/QC Workflow
A document-driven, scientifically verified 16-stage quality management workflow governing every linear meter of pipe from mill intake to final commissioning.
Material Receiving Inspection
Visual inspection for transit damage, dimensional verification of wall thickness via ultrasonic gauging, and marking verification against purchase specifications.
MTC Verification (EN 10204 3.1)
Reconciliation of physical heat numbers against certified mill test certificates, checking ladle chemistry, mechanical tensile/yield properties, and Charpy impact toughness.
Positive Material Identification (PMI)
100% XRF analyzer verification of alloy composition on stainless steel, duplex, chrome-moly, and nickel alloy components to prevent grade mix-ups.
Heat Number Traceability & Transfer
Mandatory transfer of heat numbers and material grades onto every cut pipe piece using low-stress stencils or permanent markers before fabrication.
WPS & PQR Compliance Review
Every production weld is linked to an approved Welding Procedure Specification backed by certified laboratory Procedure Qualification Records per ASME Section IX / API 1104.
Welder Performance Qualification (WPQ)
Verification of active welder qualifications in the 6G position, ensuring welder continuity logs are valid within the mandatory 6-month window.
Joint Preparation & Fit-Up Inspection
Checking bevel angles (37.5° ± 2.5°), root faces (1.6mm), root gaps (2.4–3.2mm), and internal misalignment (hi-lo ≤ 1.5mm) in rigid alignment jigs.
In-Process Purge & Welding Monitoring
Monitoring backing gas purge oxygen levels (< 30 ppm for stainless/duplex), preheat temperatures, interpass temperatures, and electrode baking oven logs.
100% Visual Weld Inspection (VT)
Complete visual examination of all external weld surfaces by CSWIP / AWS certified inspectors for cracks, lack of fusion, undercutting, and excess reinforcement.
Dimensional Inspection (PFI ES-3)
Verification of center-to-face, face-to-face, flange tilt (≤ 0.5°), and bolt-hole straddle alignment against strict PFI ES-3 fabricating tolerances.
Volumetric NDT (RT / PAUT)
Radiographic examination or Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing (PAUT) of circumferential butt welds per ASME B31.3 Table 341.3.2 acceptance criteria.
Surface NDT (PT / MT)
Liquid penetrant testing on stainless/alloy welds and magnetic particle inspection on carbon steel branch welds to detect surface-breaking flaws.
Hydrostatic Pressure Proof Testing
Strength testing in certified test bays at 1.5x design pressure adjusted for temperature, recorded on calibrated 24-hour circular or digital pressure charts.
Flushing, Cleaning & Passivation
High-velocity water flushing, low-chloride demineralized water rinse, and chemical pickling/passivation per ASTM A380 for stainless steel systems.
Blast Cleaning & Protective Coating
Abrasive blast cleaning to ISO 8501-1 Sa 2.5, application of multi-coat epoxy/polyurethane systems, and dry film thickness (DFT) verification per ISO 19840.
Final Handover Documentation Dossier
Compilation of comprehensive dossiers: as-built isometrics, weld history logs, MTCs, NDT reports, hydrotest charts, and release certificates.
Every completed piping spool and installation scope is turned over with an audit-ready Quality Dossier containing: As-Built Isometric Drawings with finalized weld joint maps, original EN 10204 3.1 Mill Test Certificates, PMI verification sheets, NDT reports (RT, UT, PT, MT), calibrated Hydrostatic Test Charts, and release certificates signed by QC managers and Third-Party Inspectors (TPI).
